Seasonal delicacies at the Real Food Market
Presents, family and fun are all well and good, but one of the greatest aspects of the holiday season is the opportunity to indulge in some truly spectacular food. With that in mind, Covent Garden has extended the opening times of its popular Real Food Market, ensuring that every visitor has the opportunity to stock up on its wide variety of gourmet produce. The Market runs every Thursday on the Piazza throughout December, from 11am-7pm, plus it’s open every day from December 17th to December 19th, and 22nd.
There’s also a great selection of ready-to-eat snacks available, should the stall’s delightful aromas prove to be too much of a temptation for your grumbling tummy.
Among the goodies on offer are Christmas cupcakes from Crumbs and Doilies, traditional Polish dishes such as borscht with dumplings and cod with vegetables from The Polish Deli and seasonal soups from Old Hall Farm.
Elsewhere, pork lovers should head for The Great British Sausage Company, where you can pick up some great-tasting bangers, home-cured bacon, black pudding and more.
For a more exotic take on the festive season, check out Arabica’s baklava gift boxes and bags of authentic Turkish delight, or pick up great value packs of gourmet coffee from the Ethiopian Coffee Co. You’ll also find traditional stollen cake sold at the stalls of Flour Power City Bakery, Out Of The Box and Artisan Foods.
Finally, to put the finishing touches to your Christmas table, why not indulge in some of L’Orchidee’s delightful macarons, now available in a suitably Christmassy green and red colourway.
