Spin paintings created by more than 60 talented children from local schools and around the UK are being exhibited in the South Hall of Covent Garden’s Market Building until 2nd July.

On 14th June Damien Hirst and Camila Batmanghelidjh, director of Kids Company, created a signature paper spin painting together in Covent Garden. The painting will be auctioned off in October to raise essential funds for the charity, which helps vulnerable inner-city children.

Britain’s most famous artist then showed the schoolchildren how to create their own spin paintings. ‘All children are artists so it’s great to be getting all these kids together in Covent Garden to make them,’ said Hirst.

Hirst has been experimenting with spin paintings since the early 1990s, and you can see some of them in the major retrospective of his work on display at Tate Modern until 9th September.
