Partial to an exotic sorbet or indulgent ice cream? Well, brace yourself for the latest opening in WC2 where plain old vanilla, chocolate and tutti frutti flavours have been given the kind of rock ‘n roll makeover you never dreamed possible.

Kooky purveyors of ‘vice cream’, The Icecreamists, are launching a new, two-floor, flagship store in Covent Garden’s historic Market Building this month. Take-away treats are dispensed downstairs where outdoor seating spills onto the South Piazza, and bon viveurs who want to linger a while will be served in the decadent lounge upstairs.

Even established Icecreamist fans who have sampled the infamous, cyrogenic ice-cream creations will love this new space. The décor includes surreal, upside down ice cream sculptures by up-and-coming artists, and there’s a brand new menu featuring a whole raft of riotous, risqué dishes including the Toast Mortem – ice cream on toast served in jet-black cones.

So whether you’re tempted by an indulgent treat mid-shop or planning a decadent finale after lunch or dinner, make a bee-line for the Icecreamists’ distinctive black and neon pink façade.
