Tommy Hilfiger’s Prep World pop-up experience
Tommy Hilfiger will be showcasing his quirky, modern take on all things preppy in WC2 this month with an authentic, East Coast beach house which will be popping up in the Piazza for a limited time only!
If you thought that being the perfect prep was all about chinos, boat shoes, blazers and cries of ‘Anyone for tennis?’, think again. Hilfiger has teamed up with Lisa Birnbach ‘prep expert’ and author of The Official Preppy Handbook to present Prep World, a travelling roadshow designed to enlighten us about the whole preppy lifestyle.
Once you take a peek through the beach house’s navy shuttered windows and step through the pink door, you’ll realise that there’s so much more to being a prep than a dress code and a love of refined summer sports. Inside you’ll find a tennis racket chandelier, and every inch of space packed with all manner of preppy paraphernalia including cocktail stirrers, dog accessories, croquet sets and custom-made backgammon beach towels. Inspiration enough to take a turn round the Covent Garden shops to stock up on all things preppy and, come summer, pack a bag and head for the coast for long, lazy days in the sunshine, preppy-style. There’s also a full programme of free events to while away the summer days.

The prep spotters will be on hand in The Piazza to photograph the most stylish, the most fashionable and the most preppy visitors. Anyone selected will be able to collect the print-out of their image from the beach house and will also be invited to upload their image onto tommy.com to be in with the chance to win the ultimate preppy weekend and the chance to appear on Vogue.com/ GQ.com.
Backgammon Challenge
Monday 9th, Tuesday 10th, Wednesday 11th & Thursday 12th May 2011 12 –

The ultimate preppy board game – backgammon – will be set-up for
customers to pit their wits against each other. The winner of each game wins
an exclusive Tommy Hilfiger ‘Prepgammon’ beach towel game.
Bow-tie Master Class
Friday 13th May 2011 12pm – 2pm
The ultimate accessory for a truly British take on Preppy style. The team
will take you through the basics of bow tying – from the Thistle to the
Butterfly, plus tips and style secrets as well as the do’s and don’ts of
Bow-Tie etiquette.
